Not only can they be used as a decorative statement, trims and mouldings are important components because they keep a rooms structural integrity. Trims around a door will bridge the gaps between the jamb and plaster board. Skirting is installed to cover the gap that is left to allow a timber floor to expand and contract. It also covers the exposed floor edges and protects from everyday scuffs.
